The Gear AF100
is a CNC Gear Hobbing Center with 8 axes control
The AF100 is equipped with our advanced current technology Leste 8 axes CNC control and is designed to hob spur and helical pinions, splines, straight bevel gears, and crown face gear wheels by either generative or single index cutting methods.
High productivity and versatility
The AF100 may be equipped with a variety of loading systems and optional accessories which combine to offer the component producer an optimized high speed cutting system with the throughput to meet a wide range of applications. The linear axes and motor spindles are highly dynamic by design and controlled by our flexible CNC control system to deliver cost effective per component process throughput and maintain system uptime. Together with the high cutting speed of up to 16,000 rpm, the AF100 is the fastest gear hobbing machines in it’s class!
Précision
The base machine design comprises a mineral casting bed, which provides an excellent thermal stability and “rock solid” rigidity and vibration dampening control. The result delivers repeatability and excellent surface quality on the components produced and extended cutting tool life.
All linear axes are equipped with optical encoded linear scales with a resolution of 0.5 μm offering accurate positional control to produce ultra precise and repeatable parts during production runs.
Principle
The workpiece is located and held between two (2) driven motor spindles utilizing precision ground formed and lapped drive centers -or- a collet and a drive center.
The hob cutter is driven by a third (3rd) motorspindle with up to 16,000 rpm. The synchronization of these three (3) spindles is performed by our “Leste” CNC control. A quick and easy GUI permits the operator program to make program inputs from the workpiece component drawing: e.g. number of teeth, module, helix angle and direction or hand plus desired spindle speed, in-feed, and hob cutting method: e.g. conventional, climb, plunge, double cut. All work in harmony to make part set-ups simple and fast. Both the hob shift function and angular or swivel positioning axis of the hob cutting spindle are programmable and automatically controlled. The swivel axis offers up to +/- 30° for helical gear, worm, and worm-wheel hobbing.
