For finish hobbing small modules hardened parts our software and application engineers have developed an automatic tooth repositioning system.
This method called Skiving (or re-hobbing) is already commonly used on big size gear hobbing machines for example in the automotive industry.
A laser beam accurately finds the angular position of one of the gear teeth. Once the position is recognized and measured the synchronisation of the part and the hob can be made. This operation is performed within 1-2 seconds.
